Heading into 2024, St. Louis Downtown Airport and its team are as busy as ever and we are preparing for additional growth on our 1,000 acres in St. Clair County, Ill., where we have five aeronautical and non-aeronautical properties available for companies and individuals interested in the locational advantages offered by KCPS.
The 2023 Girls in Aviation Day event, which took place at the airport in September, drew the largest crowd of female high school students to date. We were encouraged to see so many interested in learning more about careers in aviation and related fields.
In October, we attended the annual NBAA-BACE conference in Las Vegas, where we connected with professionals across the industry and learned more about the latest trends in aviation.
I was honored to participate in the second annual Take Flight Forum in November, which revealed $5 billion in investments being made in the region’s aerospace manufacturing and aviation ecosystem and 1,000 new jobs set to be created as a result of these investments – some of those right here at KCPS.
Another takeaway from the forum is that workforce development is top of mind for the airports and tenants, and we’re proud to be among those entities working closely with various educational institutions and training programs to ensure our region has a healthy number of skilled workers to fill vital aviation and aerospace roles.
