Two important capital projects continue to advance at KCPS. Construction began in June on the multiphase Taxiway Bravo reconstruction project, and work is progressing on time. The next phase was recently funded with an $11.1 million grant through the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Infrastructure Grant Program and will begin next spring following completion of the work currently underway.
“St. Louis Downtown Airport is grateful for Representative Budzinski’s continued support of the airport as an important transportation asset serving the region and contributing to our economy,” said Sandra Shore, Director, St. Louis Downtown Airport. “The funding announced in September will support our ongoing Taxiway Bravo project, which is essential to maintaining a safe and efficient operating environment while also helping to drive the airport’s continued growth.”
KCPS also received a second grant for the acquisition of Vehicle Movement Area Transponders. Shore said the new transponders will further enhance operational safety by increasing the visibility of vehicles on the airport to Air Traffic Control and providing controllers with greater situational awareness.
“We appreciate Representative Budzinski’s continued commitment, as well as the support of the FAA for strengthening airport infrastructure and safety at St. Louis Downtown Airport,” Shore stated.
KCPS will be seeking bids for construction of the new terminal in the near future, with the project expected to get underway in early 2027. The new facility will take shape in the same location as the existing terminal, which means the FBO will operate out of temporary locations as work is underway on the year-long project.
Shore is committed to keeping the airport fully operational during both construction projects but encourages airport users to be aware of the work underway and to pay attention to related notices.
