The inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 event on June 5 marked the first time the NASCAR Cup Series visited World Wide Technology Raceway, drawing an estimated 60,000 fans to the 1.25-mile track in Madison, Illinois, just outside of St. Louis. Located only a couple of miles away from the racetrack, St. Louis Downtown Airport (KCPS) was happy to accommodate some of those fans and many of the participating drivers who took advantage of the airport’s proximity to the race venue.

Over the course of the busy week leading up to the inaugural event and the weekend of the Enjoy Illinois 300, KCPS hosted approximately 40 charter operations. Passengers flying through our airport had easy access to rental cars right outside the terminal to cover the short distance to the various NASCAR events taking place, and also discovered they had landed just minutes from the City of St. Louis and the Gateway Arch Riverfront with convenient access to downtown St. Louis, Clayton and many other points in the bi-state St. Louis region. There are more than 30 unforgettable attractions and extraordinary experiences all within a 15-minute drive of the terminal, ranging from the Gateway Arch Riverboats, the incomparable Forest Park and the St. Louis Zoo to Cardinal’s Baseball, Blues Hockey and so much more.
